Alleged Carjacker Told His Victim Outside Coral Springs Walmart: “Sweetie, This Is A Carjacking, Take Your Kid Out Of The Car”

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – As a woman was strapping her daughter into the backseat of her car at a Walmart in Coral Springs on Wednesday, a man jumped into the front seat and gave her a stern warning, a police report said.
The man, later identified by police as Steven McCluskey, told her: “sweetie, this is a carjacking, take your kid out of the car or I’m driving off with her,” the report said.
McCluskey, 40, took off in the car from the store at 3801 Turtle Creek Drive around 3:55 p.m.
Moments later, a witness told police that McCluskey crashed his stolen car into another carat Creekside Drive and NW 48 Court after running a stop sign, the report said.
McCluskey ran out of the car and hid in bushes as police officers urged him to come out. “F— you, shoot me,” he told officers, the report said.
An officer fired a Taser at McCluskey, and after that, officers moved in and arrested him.
McCluskey, who may be homeless, was charged with carjacking, obstructing officer without violence, leaving the scene of a crash, and violation of probation.
He was on felony probation for an aggravated stalking charge.
He remained at Broward County Jail on Thursday.
