Miami-Dade School Board narrows search to three for superintendent

Miami, Florida – An upcoming meeting will likely prove instrumental to the three candidates currently vying for Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ next superintendent position.
On Monday afternoon, the Miami-Dade School Board will hold a special meeting. The applicants will be interviewed during the meeting.
Outgoing M-DCPS Superintendent Alberto Carvalho will be replaced by either Dr. Jose Dotres, Dr. Rafaela Espinal, or Jacob Oliva.
Dotres is currently the Deputy Superintendent of Collier County Public Schools and a former assistant superintendent in Miami-Dade County.
Espinal is an assistant superintendent in New York City.
Oliva is the Florida Department of Education’s Senior Chancellor.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the School Board Administration Building in Miami.
