Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin re-elected Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — On Tuesday, Mayor Shannon Martin of Port St. Lucie was re-elected to another term in office.

Martin, who had also served as vice mayor and as a councilwoman, was elected to the role for the first time in September of last year.

A garbage crisis, on the one hand, and rapid growth, on the other, have been two issues that the city has had to deal with over the course of the last year. Martin said that she and the council are continuing to work on the matter.

“I love serving the city of Port St. Lucie and our residents. I am just so honored and privileged to continue to have their support,” Martin said.

Martin emphasized the need for strategic growth in the future.

By receiving over 63% of the vote, Martin was able to avoid a runoff.

Stephanie Morgan, who is now serving on the city council, was also re-elected.
