From St. Lucie County to Miami-Dade County, South Florida residents will enjoy several top-tier events this upcoming weekend

South Florida is always full of things to do, but this weekend seems to have more than usual.

We have put together a list of things to do from St. Lucie County to Miami-Dade County, including sports, entertainment, and fun things for the whole family.

Sports

At PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, the Honda Classic is in full swing. Even though it won’t have “Honda” in the name anymore, this golf tournament has been a Palm Beach County mainstay since 2003. Prices for tickets vary, but start at $70. If that’s too expensive for you, don’t worry. The third and fourth rounds can be seen on WPTV.

The Grapefruit League also starts its spring training on Saturday. Games will be played in Port St. Lucie, Jupiter, and West Palm Beach. This will be the first spring training without any breaks since 2019.

Here is the schedule for the first weekend of spring training:

Saturday
Nationals at Cardinals | Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium | 1 p.m.
Mets at Astros | Ballpark of the Palm Beaches | 1 p.m.
Marlins at Mets | Clover Park | 6 p.m.

Sunday
Astros at Nationals (split squad) | Ballpark of the Palm Beaches | 1 p.m.
Cardinals at Marlins | Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium | 1 p.m.
Nationals (split squad) at Mets | Clover Park | 1 p.m.

In college sports, two important basketball games will take place in South Florida.

In its last home game of the 2022-23 season, Florida Atlantic wants to make history. If the Owls (25-3, 15-2 Conference USA) beat UTEP (13-15, 6-11), they’ll not only win at least a share of the regular-season conference title, but they’ll also finish with a perfect 17-0 record at home. Both would be firsts for the team, which is in its last season in the C-USA before moving to the American Athletic Conference.

Farther south, in Coral Gables, the No. 13 Miami Hurricanes (23-5, 14-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) will play rival Florida State (8-20, 6-11) as they try to sweep the Seminoles for the first time since 2016.

Events

This year’s Concours d’Elegance will be held in Boca Raton. Actor and comedian David Spade will be the event’s host. The charity event, which is in its 16th year, shows off some of the best cars and motorcycles ever made. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County get money from the three-day event, which is held on the show field at The Boca Raton, a high-end resort.

Esplanade Park will host the Fort Lauderdale Beer, Wine, and Spirits Fest for the second time. During the events on Saturday, which run from 1 to 9:30 p.m., there will also be live music.

If that doesn’t whet your appetite enough, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival is going on in Miami Beach until Sunday.

WPTV is proud to be a sponsor of the Lake Worth Beach Street Painting Festival, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday in downtown Lake Worth. The free event is on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can always take the free shuttle from Palm Beach State College and the Lake Worth Beach Tri-Rail station if you don’t want to fight for a parking spot.

The St. Lucie County Fair in Fort Pierce is last but not least. This is the first weekend of the fair. There are pig races, a show about breeding beef, magic shows, and even a rodeo. Adult and teen tickets cost $15 at the gate, and tickets for children ages 6 to 12 cost $5. Children under 5 don’t have to pay.
