Man succumbed to injuries two weeks after an accident in Deerfield Beach

Deerfield Beach, Florida – In a tragic turn of events, a man lost his life as a result of a car crash in Deerfield Beach that occurred two weeks before his death.

Sheldon Weisbrot, aged 54, succumbed to the injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on May 5, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO). The incident transpired at approximately 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest 10th Street and Southwest Sixth Avenue.

Weisbrot was operating a 2016 Honda PCX 150 scooter, painted in a vivid red, when it collided with a blue 2018 Toyota RAV4. The investigators state that Weisbrot was progressing eastwards on Southwest 10th Street, as he neared the aforementioned intersection.

On the other hand, Rogelia Segura, the 65-year-old driver of the Toyota, was journeying westward on the same street, also approaching the intersection, as per the report from BSO.

As Weisbrot steered his scooter into the intersection, Segura veered left in her Toyota to proceed south on Southwest Sixth Avenue. This maneuver intersected the Toyota’s path with the scooter’s trajectory, causing the latter to forcefully impact the car’s side, often described as a ‘T-bone’ collision, the BSO noted.

In response to the accident, both BSO deputies and Broward Fire Rescue were deployed to the site. Subsequent to preliminary medical assessment, Weisbrot was immediately transported to Broward Health North due to the severity of his injuries, whereas Segura was admitted to a nearby hospital.

Regrettably, on May 18, BSO’s traffic homicide investigators were informed of Weisbrot’s passing as a consequence of the injuries he suffered during the crash.
