$5,000 reward offered in Deerfield Beach homicide investigation

Deerfield Beach, Florida – Broward Crime Stoppers has announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the apprehension of the suspect believed to be involved in the demise of a 67-year-old man from Deerfield Beach.

On Friday, August 26, 2022, around 11:52 a.m., deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue team were called to respond to a severe assault at 331 S.W. First Terrace in Deerfield Beach. Upon their arrival, the victim, identified as William Swackard, was found lying on the ground, bleeding and unconscious.

Swackard was subsequently transported to Broward Health North, where, after several days, he tragically passed away due to his injuries. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were alerted and have since initiated an investigation. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently classified Swackard’s death as a homicide earlier this year.

An eyewitness at the scene provided a description of the assailant: a man believed to be in his mid-30s, dressed in a white shirt and blue jean shorts. The suspect was reportedly seen fleeing north on a light-colored bicycle. The circumstances surrounding the elderly man’s tragic murder remain under investigation, and detectives are actively seeking new leads.
