Fort Lauderdale responds to Tropical Storm Bret threat with sandbag distribution

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – As Tropical Storm Bret intensifies while journeying westward across the Atlantic Ocean, the City of Fort Lauderdale is undertaking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its residents.

In an attempt to mitigate potential damage, the city will commence the distribution of complimentary sandbags to residents. This pre-emptive distribution is scheduled to occur on the 24th and 25th of June, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. each day.

Residents can collect these protective sandbags from the following designated locations:

  1. Floyd Hull Stadium, positioned at 2800 SW 8th Ave.
  2. Mills Pond Park, situated at 2201 NW 9th Ave.
  3. Shirley Small Park, located at 1230 SW 34th Ave.

It is essential to note that to be eligible for the free sandbags, residents are required to provide evidence of their residency within the City of Fort Lauderdale.
