Broward County resident wins $1 million from Florida Lottery scratch-off

Broward County, Florida – Florida Lottery announced that a resident of Broward County has secured a $1 million top prize from the $5 GOLD RUSH DOUBLER scratch-off game.

The fortunate individual, Mr. Thomas Hoshko, aged 69 and a resident of Fort Lauderdale, bought his winning ticket from a Publix situated at 4703 North Ocean Drive, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. As a result of this sale, the aforementioned retailer is set to receive a $2,000 bonus.

Mr. Hoshko has opted to claim his prize in a single lump-sum payment, which amounts to $685,000.

For those unfamiliar with the specifics of the $5 GOLD RUSH DOUBLER game, it boasts an impressive $188 million in total cash prizes, including 28 top prizes valued at $1 million each.

To offer a broader perspective on the popularity of such games, scratch-off variants accounted for 72 percent of the Florida Lottery’s ticket sales in the fiscal year 2022-2023. Impressively, these games have contributed more than $17.77 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
