Broward County’s Pine Island Road expansion: Six lanes and increased safety by 2026

Davie, Florida – The Davie Town Council convened to discuss the Broward County Phase 2 Pine Island Road Widening Project on August 3. Overseen by Broward County, this initiative focuses on the stretch of Pine Island Road between Nova Drive and Griffin Road.

The primary aspects of this project involve the expansion of Pine Island Road from its current four lanes to six. In addition, enhancements to accessibility are on the agenda, coupled with the integration of bicycle lanes or multipurpose pathways.

Moreover, revisions to signalized crossroads at specific junctures are anticipated. Adjacent to the existing canal to the east, the erection of a new bulkhead wall is in the project’s blueprint. Complementary additions encompass fresh signage, updated pavement markings, enhanced lighting, and landscaping.

The landscaping phase is slated to commence in Fall 2023. Road construction has been earmarked for Summer 2024, aiming for the entire project’s culmination by Winter 2026.

A comprehensive presentation detailing the project is available for public viewing. The overarching objective of the Broward County Phase 2 Pine Island Road Widening Project is to augment vehicular flow and elevate safety standards for all who traverse the road. (Rybelsus)
