Broward County Public Schools expands Afterschool Supper Program to more students

Coral Springs, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) has announced the expansion of its Afterschool Supper Program, adding Coral Springs Middle School, Coral Springs High School, McNab Elementary School, Peters Elementary School, and Walter C. Young Middle School to the list of participating institutions. This initiative aims to provide nutritious meals to over 9,000 students engaged in afterschool educational or enrichment programs.

Ensuring Student Nutrition

The Afterschool Supper Program is funded through the federal Child Care Food Program, which is dedicated to providing healthy meals in childcare settings. These suppers adhere to all USDA requirements and are offered at no additional cost to students participating in afterschool programs. The program ensures that every student, irrespective of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability, receives the necessary nutrition to support their learning and growth.

“Expanding the Supper Program is a vital step in ensuring our students have the resources they need to succeed,” said a BCPS spokesperson. “Proper nutrition is crucial for academic performance and overall well-being.”
