Tricia Lovett brings her expertise to Schmear Bagel in Coral Springs

Coral Springs, Florida – Tricia Lovett was greeted with a smile by a patron at Schmear Bagel in Coral Springs last week, who referred to her as the “queen of bagels.”

Lovett was reminded of the decades she had spent in the Coral Springs bagel scene by the familiar greeting from an old acquaintance.

The woman hugged Lovett in the center of the restaurant and remarked, “You’re a real doll.”

Lovett then went back to the kitchen to see how the lunch orders were doing.

Lovett, a mother of five who was born and raised in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and who relocated to Coral Springs in 1990, recently took a position as manager of Schmear Bagel at 10645 Wiles Road in the Brookside Square shopping mall.

She began working in bagels at Manhattan Bagel on Wiles Road in 2002, first part-time, then full-time, and finally as a co-owner.

For almost twenty years, Lovett was a well-known local institution that served coffee and bagels.

She started her own business in 2022 after buying Mr. Beefy’s Subs on Wiles Road, which she had previously sold this year.

Lovett first became acquainted with Schmear Bagel, then known as Bagel Depot, when she was a customer.

Over the course of her frequent breakfast visits, she came to know the proprietors, Mike Monastirski and Oleg Krutansky.

She remarked, “I like them, and I started working here soon after.”

She was a perfect fit for the position because of her extensive understanding of the bagel industry and her friendly demeanor, according to Monastirski.

“She is knowledgeable,” he remarked.

Now, Lovett expressed her happiness at seeing so many people she knew from her time at Manhattan Bagel entering Schmear Bagel.

She remarked, “I love it here—we’re making it a welcoming place.” “Like Cheers, a place where everyone is welcome.”
