Parents and students are invited to provide input on the 2025–2026 Calendar by Broward Schools

Coral Springs, Florida – According to officials, Broward County parents and students have the opportunity to influence the 2025–2026 school year by offering input on three proposed calendar options that impact important dates like start and end times, holiday vacations, and semester patterns.

Three options are included in a school district poll that was distributed to families this week; they all begin the school year on August 11, 2025, but differ in key ways:

Option 1 has a complete Thanksgiving break and concludes the school year on June 3, 2026. To satisfy state regulations, middle school students’ school days would be extended by ten minutes.

Option 2 lowers Thanksgiving break by keeping schools open on November 24 and 25, 2025, but ends the school year early, on June 1, 2026.

Option 3 moves the conclusion of the first semester into January, overlapping winter break, but it allows a full week off for Thanksgiving and ends the school year on June 3, 2026.

Families are being urged by the district to go over the calendars online and fill out a form to express their preferences: calendarsurvey.browardschools.com

The survey ends on December 5 at midnight.

According to officials, the School Board will use the poll results to inform its final decision, which will represent the priorities of the community.
