Despite ongoing construction, Parkland’s Loxahatchee Road will reopen on Friday
Parkland, Florida – Parkland city officials said Thursday that traffic will resume on the portion of Loxahatchee Road between University Drive and Parkside Drive on Friday.
City officials posted on social media that while the route will be open to automobiles and trucks, construction will continue and bicycles and pedestrians will not be allowed to use it.
Due to major detours along University Drive, Holmberg Road, and Parkside Drive brought on by the closing of Loxahatchee Road over the past year, traffic and travel times have increased throughout the region.
Loxahatchee Road, which runs from State Road 7 to the Arthur R. Marshall National Wildlife Refuge, is being upgraded as part of a $33 million project.
In order to add bike lanes, the road will be widened. Additionally, a continuous sidewalk will be built along the south side, and roundabouts will be built at Nob Hill Road, University Drive, and Parkside Drive.
The project should be completed by early 2027, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
