Coral Springs is contemplating a $150,000 initiative for public art at a local park

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs is exploring a new public art initiative with a budget of $150,000, aimed at introducing an interactive sculpture to one of two city parks.
A draft memo from the city’s Public Art Committee indicates that the proposed installation is set to be located at either Lions Park, situated at 3505 Riverside Drive, or Pride Promoters Park, located at 4391 Riverside Drive.
The committee is initiating a “call for artist” for a sculpture that invites observers to ‘walk’ through, on, or around the artwork, effectively becoming part of the artwork itself, according to the memo.
The memo indicated that if the project progresses, the artwork must be finalized by the end of August.
The proposed budget stands at $150,000.
Funding for public art in Coral Springs is sourced from the city’s public art program, which receives financial support from new development and redevelopment initiatives. Public art is funded without the use of tax dollars.
According to a city website, Coral Springs boasts 51 public artworks throughout the city.

The Public Art Committee will hold a meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday at City Hall to discuss the new project.
