A 64-year-old Coral Springs man discovered hiding in a trash can following a theft at the University Drive Home Depot

Coral Springs, Florida – According to a police report, a 64-year-old guy from Coral Springs was recently discovered hiding in a garbage can after robbing a store and escaping from the authorities.

According to the complaint, Thomas Vaughan attempted to steal over $1,000 worth of products from Home Depot, located at 750 University Drive in Coral Springs, and was charged with grand theft.

When a Home Depot loss prevention officer allegedly observed Vaughan leaving the store without paying for three five-gallon containers of paint and seven boxes of tiles on December 20, police were contacted, according to the report.

Vaughan fled after being confronted, leaving the pilfered goods in the parking lot.
Shortly afterward, officers discovered him in the trash behind the Big Lots shop at 725 University Drive, across the street from Home Depot.

According to the article, Vaughan was arrested after a witness positively identified him as the culprit.

According to court documents, Vaughan was arrested and taken to the Broward County prison before being released on a $2,500 bond.
