Coral Springs, Florida – In Coral Springs, a well-known Venezuelan artist who attended FAU will exhibit her work.

The Alejandra Abad exhibition’s opening reception will take place at the Coral Springs Museum of Art on Friday, January 17, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend the free event, TRES: Garden of Memories, Lexicon de Plantas, & Water State, which includes a special members-only preview hour from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The exhibition features three related projects that use Abad’s distinctive fusion of interdisciplinary methods and Magical Realism to examine issues of memory, nature, and community.

Visitors can explore the Garden of Memories, an artwork that uses a variety of materials to make cutouts and sketches that are assembled into animations depicting memories of Alejandra’s grandfather’s garden in Venezuela.

Additionally on display is Lexicon de Plantas, an audiovisual piece that combines text, sculpture, and animated elements with a typewritten poem by the artist’s grandfather.

Finally, Water State showcases a continuous experimental animation that uses collages and audiovisual components to explore the fluidity of water, drawing inspiration from South Florida’s status as a haven.
