Coral Springs’ Sawgrass Nature Center marks 30 years of teaching and wildlife

Coral Springs, Florida – With an emphasis on animal rehabilitation and environmental education, Coral Springs’ Sawgrass Nature Center and Animal Hospital is commemorating 30 years of operation in South Florida.
To inform the community of the center’s accomplishments and upcoming anniversary celebrations, Executive Director Robin Reccasina released a press release this week.
Established in 1995 by Joan Kohl in her house, the facility has expanded into a center for animal care and environmental education at its Sportsplex Park location in Coral Springs, she said.
The institute has treated and returned thousands of native birds, animals, and reptiles to the wild over the last thirty years.
Additionally, the organization offers activities like Camp Wild and Meet Your Wildlife Friends.
“A lot of people come back as adults to reminisce and bring their kids,” she said.
Some have even progressed from campers to workers, volunteers, and counselors.
In the news release, Reccasina stated, “It is such a thrill to have young adults come back and express their fond memories of the time they spent” at the center.
The center’s success has been largely attributed to volunteers and community partnerships, she continued.
Support from private citizens, neighborhood associations, and business partners enables the center to continue its work and broaden its scope.
According to her, these partnerships guarantee that the center can keep tackling fresh issues and encouraging environmental responsibility.
The center’s 30th-anniversary events are open to the public.
The yearly Orchid Fest takes place on February 22 and 23.
In addition, visitors can make gifts, schedule educational events, and view the center’s outdoor displays Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
