A police pursuit that starts in Coral Springs ends with two arrests in Fort Lauderdale Marina

Coral Springs, Florida – Two guys were caught in Fort Lauderdale after trying to elude police by hiding in a yacht harbor during a police pursuit that started in Coral Springs.

Officers reportedly pulled over a silver Mercedes-Benz on January 30 for exceeding the speed limit of 40 mph in the vicinity of Coral Ridge Drive and Royal Palm Boulevard.

Before entering Florida’s Turnpike, the driver, Sedaniel Gaines, 23, of North Miami, led police on a chase through multiple cities despite their orders.

As the vehicle raced through Broward County and finally pulled out at West State Road 84, the Broward County Sheriff’s helicopter helped track it.

Both the driver and his front-seat passenger, Umaree Gaines, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot at Yacht Dzign Marina, located at 3001 West State Road 84, where the pursuit came to a halt.

According to the reports, Umaree Gaines tried to avoid capture by plunging into the sea and hiding along the side of a yacht, while Sedaniel Gaines leaped a fence around the marina and tried to hide on a boat dock.

Officers used airborne surveillance to find and apprehend both men.

Sedaniel Gaines, who was already on felony probation for burglary and handgun possession, was driving with a suspended Florida learner’s permit because of unpaid child support, according to the police.

Fleeing and eluding police, peaceful obstruction, violating probation, dangerous driving, and knowing driving with a suspended license are among the numerous allegations he is currently facing.

In addition to being arrested for impeding an officer, Umaree Gaines was discovered to have an active warrant.

The Broward County Jail received both men. Because of his probation breach, Sedaniel Gaines was being held without bond.
