Coral Springs adds sensory-friendly experience to make annual egg hunt more inclusive for children

Coral Springs, Florida – The city of Coral Springs is making its annual Hoppin’ Into Springs Egg Hunt even more inclusive this year by introducing a sensory-friendly experience. The free, family-oriented event, set for Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sportsplex Park, will now feature a designated time slot for children with sensory sensitivities to enjoy the egg hunt in a calm and comfortable setting.
The event, open to Coral Springs residents ages 3 to 8, will follow its traditional format, where children will be grouped by age and given specific time slots to search for colorful, candy-filled plastic eggs. However, from 9 to 9:30 a.m., the new sensory-friendly egg hunt will provide a quieter and less overwhelming atmosphere for children who may be sensitive to noise and large crowds.
“As an active, healthy, and family-friendly community, this event gives residents a memorable way to connect, celebrate, and enjoy time together,” said Brandon Brader, special events and youth engagement manager. “We’re also excited about the added sensory component that will allow children with all abilities to enjoy this community-favorite event.”
This new initiative aims to make the event more accessible to all families, ensuring that every child has an opportunity to take part in the springtime tradition. By reducing loud sounds and limiting the number of participants during the sensory-friendly session, organizers hope to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment.
Beyond the egg hunt, attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including a DJ, a bounce house, arts and crafts, themed sunglasses, and free sweet treats. The Easter Bunny will also make a special appearance, adding to the festive atmosphere and providing families with a chance to capture memorable moments.
To participate, families must register in advance, as walk-up entries will not be permitted. Parents are also reminded to bring their own baskets and arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled start time. The event is open exclusively to Coral Springs residents.

Whether through the standard egg hunt or the adapted, quieter session, families can come together to celebrate and create lasting memories.
