Coral Springs Police Department to offer free self-defense class focused on safety and awareness for women

Coral Springs, Florida – Women and teenage girls in Coral Springs will have an opportunity to learn vital self-defense skills through a free class designed to promote safety and awareness. The Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange (S.A.F.E.) program will take place on Thursday, May 1, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Sartory Hall Senior Center, located at 10150 NW 29th Street.

This two-hour session, led by the Coral Springs Police Department, is aimed at women aged 13 and up. The course focuses on increasing awareness, teaching prevention strategies, and introducing basic self-defense techniques that could be life-saving in dangerous situations. Participants will learn how to recognize and avoid potential threats while also being equipped with simple but effective physical defense skills.

“The goal of this class is to give women the knowledge and confidence to stay safe,” said a spokesperson from the Coral Springs Police Department. “By focusing on awareness and prevention, we can help reduce the risk of dangerous encounters.”

The class is open to all teen and adult women, but space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. To take part in the program, attendees must complete a release and waiver form prior to the session.

S.A.F.E. is more than just a self-defense course—it’s an educational program designed to empower women with the skills and mindset necessary to protect themselves. The initiative highlights the importance of personal safety and equips participants with practical tools to handle real-world threats.

For those unable to attend this session, organized groups can also request private S.A.F.E. classes through the Coral Springs Police Department. This ensures that more women and teen girls in the community have access to these valuable lessons.

With safety being a top priority, the Coral Springs Police Department encourages all eligible participants to take advantage of this free opportunity. Those interested in attending should register as soon as possible to secure their spot.

This event serves as a proactive step toward empowering women and teens, ensuring they have the resources and confidence to stay safe in their daily lives.
