Local restaurant in Coral Springs organizes special fundraiser to support Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation initiative

Coral Springs, Florida – A local restaurant is stepping up to support a heartfelt cause. Sicilian Oven, a popular eatery in Coral Springs, is inviting residents to dine for a purpose on Tuesday, April 8. On this special day, a portion of all dine-in and takeout sales will be donated to the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit committed to honoring the 17 lives lost in the 2018 tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The fundraiser will take place at Sicilian Oven’s Coral Springs location at 10140 West Sample Road. Guests who wish to contribute simply need to mention the give-back event to their server, ensuring that part of their bill will directly support the memorial’s construction.

The Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation recently selected a design for the memorial, created by artist Gordon Huether. The design features 17 limestone obelisks arranged in concentric circles around a tranquil fountain, with each obelisk dedicated to one of the victims. The space will also include shaded seating, poetry engravings, and 17 royal palm trees, reinforcing the circular theme of remembrance. The memorial is set to be built on a peaceful 150-acre preserve at the border of Coral Springs and Parkland.

The initiative has already gained strong community backing, with local businesses and residents eager to contribute to the cause. Events like the Sicilian Oven fundraiser play a crucial role in raising the necessary funds and awareness for the project.

With every meal served on April 8, patrons of Sicilian Oven will not only enjoy delicious Italian cuisine but also play a part in preserving the memory of those lost. The fundraiser presents an opportunity for the community to come together in a meaningful way, supporting a cause that remains deeply significant to many.

For those who want to help beyond attending the fundraiser, the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation continues to welcome donations and community support to bring the vision of the memorial to life.

This event serves as a reminder that small acts—like sharing a meal—can make a big impact. Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and take part in this effort to ensure the memory of the 17 victims lives on.
