Coral Springs Police Department welcomes new chief Brad Mock after ceremony and transition of leadership

Coral Springs, Florida – In a heartfelt ceremony held on Friday, April 4, the Coral Springs Police Department officially welcomed its new Police Chief, Brad Mock, during a Transfer of Command event. The ceremony marked the end of former Police Chief Brad McKeone’s tenure as he transitioned into his new role as Deputy City Manager. Chief Mock, who has served with the department for more than 25 years, now takes the reins of a department that is responsible for protecting and serving the city’s approximately 135,000 residents.

Chief Mock’s career began in the ranks of the department as a Patrol Officer, and over the years, his dedication to public service and safety propelled him through various leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Interim Police Chief, which gave him a firsthand look at the department’s operations and the community’s needs. He has earned a reputation for his commitment to enhancing the safety and well-being of Coral Springs, and his appointment to Police Chief is seen as a natural progression for someone so entrenched in the city’s law enforcement efforts.

“I believe in a unified approach to public safety,” Chief Mock said during the ceremony. “It’s not just about our department; it’s about building relationships with our neighbors, schools, businesses, and other law enforcement agencies. Together, we can create a safer, more secure community.”

Mock’s appointment signals a continued focus on building bridges within the community. One of his core principles is strengthening partnerships across Coral Springs, from local schools to businesses, and with other law enforcement agencies. Chief Mock understands that the key to achieving a safer city is collaboration, which he believes will lead to a stronger and more unified approach to policing.

City Manager Catherine Givens also offered her full support during the ceremony, praising Mock’s deep ties to the community. “When searching for our city’s next top cop, we didn’t have to look far,” Givens remarked. “Chief Mock is deeply rooted in this community—he lives here, raises his children here, and coaches youth sports in our parks. On behalf of everyone in our organization, I want to say how grateful we are for your leadership.”

In his new role, Mock aims to continue fostering a police department that is responsive, proactive, and transparent. He emphasized that one of his top priorities is the further expansion of technological tools that aid in crime prevention and response. The Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) stands out as a critical asset for the department, providing real-time monitoring that helps officers respond faster to incidents, improving safety for all Coral Springs residents.

While technological advancements are a key part of Mock’s vision for the future of the department, he also remains dedicated to community safety at its core. School safety is one area that continues to be a focus for the new Police Chief. With schools being central to many families’ lives in Coral Springs, Mock has pledged to strengthen his department’s partnership with local educational institutions to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff.

He believes in assembling a strong and capable team that will serve the city well into the future, particularly as the demands of modern policing continue to evolve.

Throughout his career, Chief Mock has worked with several key law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office. His ability to collaborate across different agencies has been a hallmark of his leadership, and he intends to continue fostering these partnerships. Mock’s leadership style emphasizes that collaboration, not competition, is essential to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

His deep roots in the community, combined with his decades of law enforcement experience, position him as a capable and trusted leader to guide the department forward.

As the new Police Chief of Coral Springs, Mock has his eyes set on a future where safety, community, and collaboration go hand in hand. With his dedication to enhancing public safety, improving technological resources, and strengthening community ties, Chief Mock looks forward to leading the department as it continues to serve and protect the citizens of Coral Springs.
