City of Coral Springs to conclude its mini hazardous waste collection events, providing one last opportunity for safe disposal

Coral Springs, Florida – The City of Coral Springs is wrapping up its Mini Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events this month. The final event will be held this weekend, providing residents with one last chance to safely dispose of hazardous items. The event will take place at the Waste Transfer Station, located at 12600 Wiles Road, with drop-off hours on Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.

This weekend’s collection marks the end of the city’s Mini HHW collection program, a service that has allowed residents to dispose of various hazardous materials in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. However, the city is consolidating its hazardous waste collection services to streamline the process and improve access for residents. As a result, the Mini HHW events will no longer take place in the future.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this final opportunity to dispose of hazardous waste such as paint, fluorescent light bulbs, and electronic equipment, all of which can pose environmental and health risks if not disposed of properly. The city has stressed the importance of disposing of these materials safely to prevent contamination of the environment and to ensure public safety.

To make hazardous waste disposal more convenient for residents, Coral Springs is introducing new disposal options. One key change is that dried latex paints will now be accepted every weekend during the Waste Transfer Station’s regular operating hours. This new policy offers an easier, more frequent way for residents to dispose of latex paints, which are commonly found in households.

In addition to the ongoing acceptance of dried latex paint, other hazardous materials, such as non-latex paints, fluorescent light bulbs, and electronic devices, will now be collected during Special Collection Days. The next Special Collection Day is scheduled for September 20, 2025, from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Westside Complex, located at 4181 NW 121 Ave. in Coral Springs.

The move toward consolidating hazardous waste services reflects the city’s efforts to enhance convenience and accessibility for residents while maintaining a high standard of environmental stewardship. By offering regular disposal options and dedicated collection days, Coral Springs aims to make it easier for residents to properly dispose of hazardous materials and help protect the community and the environment.

As Coral Springs transitions away from the Mini HHW events, residents are urged to take full advantage of the final collection opportunity this weekend. With the new disposal options in place, the city is committed to ensuring that its residents have access to safe and efficient ways to manage hazardous waste in the future.
