Teen suspect arrested by police after late-night shooting leaves Coral Springs neighborhood shaken

Coral Springs, Florida – A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a late-night shooting that rocked a quiet residential neighborhood in Coral Springs last month. The incident, which occurred near Wiles Road and Riverside Drive on March 23, prompted a swift response from local police and remains under active investigation.

Authorities say they were called to the scene shortly before midnight, at approximately 11:51 p.m., after receiving several reports of gunfire. According to the police report, multiple witnesses in the neighborhood told officers they heard several shots ring out, followed by the sound of a car speeding away from the area.

One resident, whose home security cameras captured the incident, provided video footage that has played a key role in the investigation. The footage showed four unidentified males walking along the road before approaching a parked SUV. A few seconds later, gunshots were fired — reportedly from inside the vehicle, specifically from the driver’s seat — and the SUV sped off immediately after.

The driver of that SUV, later identified as a 911 caller, reported being shot in the arm. He informed dispatchers he was en route to HCA Florida Northwest Hospital in nearby Margate for treatment. Coral Springs Police later confirmed that the driver had indeed sustained gunshot injuries and was listed as a victim in the case.

During a search of the surrounding area, police discovered multiple bullet impacts on a nearby home and two vehicles parked on the street, one of which was a red pickup truck. Officers also recovered several key pieces of evidence, including a damaged flip phone and other signs consistent with gunfire.

After several days of investigation and collecting leads, Coral Springs officers arrested a 17-year-old male on March 28 in connection with the shooting. Due to his age, officials have not released his name or any identifying details. He is currently facing multiple serious charges, including attempted felony murder.

Police say the investigation is far from over. The three other individuals captured in the surveillance video have not yet been identified or located, and authorities continue to follow up on leads. They are urging anyone who may have additional information about the shooting or the individuals involved to come forward.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact the department at 954-344-1800,” the police stated.

The incident has left many residents in the normally peaceful Coral Springs neighborhood shaken. While the victim is expected to recover, the sudden eruption of gunfire in a suburban area has raised concerns about youth violence and public safety.

As the Coral Springs Police Department continues its efforts to track down the remaining suspects, officials are reassuring the public that they are committed to fully resolving the case and ensuring community safety.
