Worker suffers serious injury and is airlifted after machinery accident near Mullins Park in Coral Springs

Coral Springs, Florida – Emergency crews responded to a serious workplace accident Monday afternoon near Mullins Park, where a worker sustained a severe injury while operating heavy machinery.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at 10000 Ben Geiger Drive, just steps away from the popular Mullins Playground. According to the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department, the worker suffered a major extremity injury that required immediate medical attention.
Due to the severity of the injury, the individual was airlifted by Broward Sheriff’s Office Air Rescue to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach. First responders moved quickly to stabilize the worker before the helicopter arrived. Authorities have not released the victim’s name or specific details about how the accident occurred.
Officials have confirmed that the injured person was involved in work related to the site, although it remains unclear whether the accident was connected to the city’s scheduled maintenance of Mullins Playground. The city had previously announced that the playground would be closed on June 24 and 25 for improvements, but it’s uncertain if the injury occurred as part of those preparations.
The area near Mullins Park is frequently busy with public activities, which made the emergency response highly visible. Residents nearby reported seeing emergency vehicles and a helicopter circling above shortly after the incident took place.
As of now, no updates have been given regarding the worker’s condition. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident. “We responded to a machinery-related injury with serious trauma and assisted in transporting the patient via air rescue,” the fire department shared in a brief statement.
City officials have not commented on whether the accident will impact the timeline of the scheduled playground maintenance or if additional safety measures will be put in place moving forward.
