Police identify 18-year-old victim found fatally shot outside Coral Springs apartment complex as investigation continues

Coral Springs, Florida – A homicide investigation remains active in Coral Springs after police identified the young man who was discovered fatally shot outside a local apartment complex earlier this week.

Authorities said the victim was 18-year-old Khameran Jackson of Dania Beach. Officers responded to the scene during the early morning hours Thursday after reports of a shooting near the 2500 block of Riverside Drive. When police arrived, they found Jackson outside the apartment complex suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The violence triggered a massive law enforcement response that stretched on for hours as officers worked to secure the area and search for whoever was responsible. Residents nearby awoke to flashing lights, police vehicles and an active tactical operation unfolding in their neighborhood.

According to investigators, SWAT teams were brought into the search effort as authorities combed through the surrounding area looking for possible suspects or evidence connected to the deadly shooting. The intense police presence caused concern among residents as streets and sections around the complex remained under heavy law enforcement activity throughout much of the morning.

Despite the large-scale response, investigators have not announced any arrests. Police have also not publicly released details about what may have led to the shooting or whether Jackson knew the suspect involved.

The case now joins a growing number of unsolved shootings across South Florida that continue to leave families searching for answers while detectives work to piece together the final moments leading up to the violence.

Neighbors in the Riverside Drive area described a tense atmosphere following the discovery, with many expressing shock that such a deadly incident happened so close to home. For some residents, the sight of heavily armed officers and tactical units moving through the apartment complex underscored the seriousness of the investigation.

Authorities say callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

As investigators continue their search, the community is left mourning the loss of another young life taken far too soon.
