Dan Daley of Coral Springs and Christine Hunschofsky of Parkland reelected to Florida House
Coral Springs, Florida – Two Broward County state representatives have officially secured another term in the Florida House without facing any challengers, after qualifying for reelection with no opposition, according to state election records released Friday.
State Representative Dan Daley of Coral Springs and State Representative Christine Hunschofsky of Parkland were the only qualified candidates in their respective districts when the filing period closed. With no opponents entering either race, both lawmakers were automatically reelected under Florida law, which treats unopposed candidates as elected once qualifying ends. As a result, voters will not see contests for Florida House District 95 or District 96 on the November ballot.
Daley, a Democrat representing House District 96, continues his legislative tenure after first being elected in 2019. His political background includes service on the Coral Springs City Commission, where he also held the role of vice mayor before moving to the state level. His work in local government helped establish his profile in the region before joining the Florida House.
His reelection comes shortly after a notable shift in his political plans. Less than two weeks ago, Daley announced that he would not pursue the open Senate District 30 seat, instead opting to remain in the Florida House and seek another term. That decision came after state Sen. Tina Polsky revealed she would not run for reelection, briefly opening speculation about a possible Senate bid for Daley before he stepped back from that path.
Christine Hunschofsky, a Democrat representing House District 95, also moves forward into another term without opposition. Before joining the Florida House in 2020, she served as mayor of Parkland, where she became a well-known local leader. Since entering the legislature, she has remained active in state policy discussions and is now expected to take on a leadership position as the next head of the House Democratic caucus.
Her continued role in Tallahassee reflects her steady rise within the Democratic delegation, particularly among Broward County lawmakers who have maintained strong representation in recent sessions.

Meanwhile, attention in the broader Senate District 30 race is shifting elsewhere. Former Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book is now running for the seat and will face Republican candidate Jerusa Zitta in the upcoming general election, setting up one of the more closely watched contests in the region.
For Daley and Hunschofsky, however, the outcome is already settled. With no challengers emerging by the end of qualifying, both lawmakers will continue representing their districts without interruption as they prepare for the next legislative session in Tallahassee.
