Coral Springs businessman Prem Mirpuri and IRCC board lead South Florida’s largest Diwali Festival of Lights this Saturday at Nova Southeastern University

Coral Springs, Florida – South Florida will light up this weekend as the 13th Annual Diwali Festival of Lights returns to the region, promising an unforgettable celebration of Indian culture, music, and cuisine. The festival, hosted by the nonprofit Indian Regional and Cultural Center (IRCC), will take place on Saturday, November 8, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Rick Case Arena on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Davie. Organizers anticipate more than 8,000 attendees, making it one of the largest cultural events in South Florida.

Among the event’s key organizers is Coral Springs businessman Prem Mirpuri, who serves as co-chair of the Diwali Committee alongside Sanjay Gupta, CPA, and vice chair Durgesh Thaker. Mirpuri, a former IRCC president, has been a prominent advocate for recognizing Diwali and Hindu Heritage Month across local cities, schools, and organizations, helping to foster cultural awareness and community unity throughout South Florida.

“Diwali is more than a festival — it’s a symbol of light, unity, and understanding,” Mirpuri said in a news release. “Seeing our community come together and witnessing elected officials, business leaders, and schools recognize this special day is truly heartwarming.”

The festival will feature a staggering lineup of more than 1,000 performers, showcasing everything from Bollywood dance routines to traditional folk performances, as well as youth and adult competitions that highlight the rich diversity of the Indian community in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Attendees can expect to see performances that combine modern and classical styles, reflecting the vibrant cultural traditions of India.

Beyond performances, the festival will host over 40 vendors offering an array of authentic Indian cuisine, including regional specialties and street food, along with jewelry, clothing, and Henna art. The event is held inside a large, air-conditioned venue, ensuring a comfortable experience for all guests regardless of the Florida weather.

Tickets are priced at $15 and can be purchased in advance online at www.irccflorida.org, while parking at the venue is free. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to fully experience the performances, shopping, and culinary offerings throughout the day.

For Mirpuri and the IRCC board, the festival represents more than just a celebration of culture — it’s a community effort to bring people together, promote understanding, and highlight the contributions of the Indian-American community in South Florida. The annual Diwali Festival has grown steadily since its inception, becoming a signature event that draws families, business leaders, and local officials alike.

The 13th Annual Diwali Festival of Lights promises an evening of celebration, music, dance, and food, offering attendees a chance to experience one of South Florida’s most vibrant cultural events. As the lights shine and performances unfold, organizers hope the event will continue to foster unity, appreciation, and cultural pride for years to come.
