Coral Springs teenager confesses to throwing rocks at multiple homes during a late night spree that left residents frightened and windows shattered

Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs teenager is facing multiple felony charges after police say he terrorized a neighborhood in a late-night rock-throwing spree that left several homes damaged and residents shaken.

Coral Springs Police responded to reports of loud crashes and breaking glass in the area of Royal Palm Boulevard around midnight on November 19. Officers were called after residents reported hearing repeated banging noises outside their homes, prompting fears of a potential break-in.

One of the victims, who was asleep when the disturbance began, told officers she was startled awake by the sound of shattering glass. Moments later, her back sliding glass door was smashed. Fearing for her safety, she quickly grabbed her baby and hid in a closet with her husband while calling 911.

A neighbor also heard the loud noises outside and looked out an open window, witnessing the suspect throwing large rocks at the homes below. She identified the man as Dalton Avery Tardif, 18, of Coral Springs, describing how he ran around the corner of the building, causing more destruction as a child cried nearby. She said she saw him return to his residence near the 12000 block of Royal Palm Boulevard, where officers later made contact with him.

Tardif stepped outside when approached by police and was detained without incident. The witness positively identified him as the person responsible for the damage. As officers canvassed the area, additional residents reported their homes had been affected. One man said he had been unaware of the incident until police informed him that a bedroom window had been shattered. Another resident described how he and his wife had been asleep when their sliding door was smashed, waking to the sound of broken glass.

Investigators interviewed Tardif at the Coral Springs Police Department. According to police records, he gave a full confession, admitting that he “lost his temper” and threw rocks that damaged several homes. Authorities say the incident left residents frightened and prompted a swift police response.

Tardif now faces three felony charges in connection with the incident. He was transported to the Broward County Main Jail and later released after posting a $7,500 bond. Police say the case remains under investigation as they continue to assess the extent of the property damage and confirm the number of homes affected.

Coral Springs Police emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that residents acted quickly to protect themselves and their families. “This could have ended much worse,” a spokesperson said. “We are thankful no one was injured during this reckless behavior.”

The late-night disturbance has left the Royal Palm Boulevard neighborhood on edge. Residents described a mix of shock and relief after learning that the suspect had been apprehended. Many expressed gratitude toward law enforcement for their rapid response and for ensuring the safety of those in the area.

Tardif’s attorney has not released a statement, and authorities have confirmed that all appropriate charges have been filed. The Coral Springs Police Department reminded residents to report suspicious behavior and to remain vigilant, especially during late-night hours.

As the community processes the incident, it serves as a reminder of how quickly situations can escalate and the importance of staying aware of surroundings. Police continue to investigate and encourage anyone with information about the damage to come forward.
