Coral Springs lacrosse teams celebrate seniors as they close out a memorable regular season with games and festivities

Coral Springs, Florida – The lacrosse season in Coral Springs came to an exciting close this week as several local programs held their senior night celebrations, honoring the hard work and dedication of their graduating players. These events provided a moment for athletes, families, and coaches to reflect on a season of highs and challenges while celebrating the seniors’ contributions both on and off the field.

At Coral Glades High School, the boys’ team celebrated standout seniors Nichols Insua, Aiden Golfin, Ethan Gross, Zaffer Sharifeh, Luca Toni-Black, Rafael Hanna, and Mauricio Leja. These players have been integral to the Jaguars’ success this season, including impressive wins over cross-town rival Coral Springs High School. The team outscored the Colts 19-7 across their matchups and also posted a dominant 14-3 victory over South Plantation High School. Mauricio Leja led the team with 12 goals, while Nichols Insua added eight. Zaffer Sharifeh and Franchini each contributed five goals, demonstrating a balanced offensive effort throughout the season.

The girls’ team at Coral Glades also held its senior night, honoring Taylor Evans, Dariana Araya, Valerie Ramos, Genesis Garcia, Allura Buelvas, Emily Orenstein, and Nissie Cadette. Despite ending the season with three consecutive losses, the Jaguars finished with a solid 6-5 record. Their wins this season included victories over Cooper City, West Boca Raton, South Plantation, Seminole Ridge, Pompano Beach, and West Broward High School. Allura Buelvas, a Kennesaw State University commit, led the team with an impressive 40 goals, while Anne Butterfield added 18. Miranda Infante and Gianna Gonzalez each scored 14, and Taylor Evans contributed 12 goals. On the defensive end, Nissie Cadette was a standout in goal with 45 saves, while Daniella Concepcion and Stefani Varela provided key assists that facilitated the offense.

At Coral Springs High School, the boys’ team also honored their senior class, which included Tyler King, Isa Ahmed, Colt Chambers, Cameron Wagner, Anthony Bedoya, Sebastian Aguirre, Cooper Waldman, Noah Jiron, Khristian Toledo, Uriel Solis, Vincent Hanlon, Matt Jean Baptiste, Thong Pham, Erick Jimenez, Ivan Becker, and Leonard Yeargin. The Colts faced a challenging season, finishing with a 2-7 record. Their victories came in an 11-10 thriller against South Plantation High School and a 6-4 win over Dillard High School. Offensively, Khristian Toledo and Matt Jean Baptiste led the team in goals, while Tyler King, Colt Chambers, and Hernandez combined for 100 contributions. Cooper Waldman and Noah Jiron each added a goal, showing that the team had several contributors despite the tough season.

These senior night celebrations marked not only the end of the regular season but also the culmination of years of effort, dedication, and commitment from the student-athletes. Coaches and teammates reflected on the impact the seniors had on their respective programs, emphasizing leadership, teamwork, and perseverance.
