New Town shooting claimed the life of one person

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The person who was shot at the Checkers restaurant on Kings Road and Rushing Street in New Town on Friday night sustained life-threatening injuries, according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.

The victim was listed as critical at a hospital and later died.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is now on the scene, and any new information will be published here as soon as it becomes available.
