Historic Mega Millions jackpot won in northern Florida

Hollywood, Florida – The Florida Lottery has confirmed that a winning ticket for the substantial $1.58 billion Mega Millions jackpot was purchased in the northern part of the state. This fortunate event occurred on Tuesday night, marking the end of an extended four-month period without a jackpot winner. Furthermore, a ticket worth $2 million was acquired at a convenience store in South Florida.
The successful ticket was sold at a Publix grocery store situated in Neptune Beach. The numbers that were drawn are as follows: “13 19 20 32 33” with the additional yellow ball being “14.”
This significant win followed 31 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner since April 18. This consistent lack of winners allowed the jackpot to accumulate, making it the third-largest in the annals of U.S. lottery history.
The odds of clinching the Mega Millions jackpot are decidedly slim, standing at one in 302.6 million. If the winner chooses an annuity payment method, the entire $1.58 billion will be disbursed over three decades. However, a one-time payment option, which many select, amounts to an estimated $783.3 million for this particular jackpot.
In addition, a Kwik Stop store, located at “830 Columbus Parkway,” was the source of the $2 million ticket, which correctly matched five numbers in addition to the Megaplier.
It’s worth noting that while prize money is usually subject to federal taxation, Florida stands among the 14 states that exempt lottery winnings from state taxes.
The Mega Millions lottery is actively participated in across 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The subsequent drawing for this game is scheduled for Friday, with the jackpot reset to $20 million.
