Coral Springs set to receive $4.2 Million for road projects as part of regional initiative
Coral Springs, Florida – Upcoming road work in Coral Springs will focus on tackling the elevated crash rate along Royal Palm Boulevard, stretching from University Drive to Riverside Drive.
The Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization includes this in its 25-year transportation plan for Coral Springs, utilizing state and federal funding.
Peter Gies, a regional planning manager with the Broward MPO, stated, “This project was identified through a safety study conducted by the organization.”
He recently shared the MPO’s plans with the Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The project encompasses enhancements to the intersection of Royal Palm Boulevard and Riverside Drive, the elimination of the dedicated right turn lane for eastbound traffic on Royal Palm Blvd. at University Drive, and the potential closure of the left turn option at NW 89 Drive, he stated.
The $1.9 million project is set to enter the design phase next year, with construction anticipated to begin the year after.
Another project by the Coral Springs Broward MPO involves enhancements along NW 39th Street, stretching from Coral Ridge Drive to NW 110th Avenue.
The project will feature enhancements such as better drainage, dedicated bicycle lanes, and sidewalks extending from Coral Ridge Drive to NW 110 Avenue, according to Gies.
This project is set to enter the design phase in the current fiscal year, with an estimated cost of approximately $2.3 million.
Similar to the Royal Palm Boulevard project, this initiative is also set to commence construction during the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
