A historical wall that illustrates Miami’s history of racial struggle and integration is unveiled at Carver Elementary
Coral Gables, Florida – A school in South Florida is commemorating history by adding a new classroom.
A new wall commemorating the century-long history of racial struggle and integration in Miami was inaugurated at Coral Gables’ George Washington Carver Elementary School.
The wall features images of important occasions in the city’s past as well as historical pioneers.
Before 1966, it was an all-Black school. The school has developed extremely successful language magnet programs over the years.
According to officials, pupils can learn about the significance of that era from the wall.
Patricia Fairclough, the principal of the school, stated, “History tells a story, and this story can be told for generations to come, and it’s an inspiration for them to see how hard it was, but yet with grace, yet with grit, they were able to determine and be great here in Coconut Grove.”
Students have the opportunity to share the tales of civic heroes who paved the way for Miami’s community.
