A boy was taken unconscious from a pool in Wilton Manors and sent to the hospital

Lauderhill, Florida – After almost drowning in a Lauderhill canal, a man was taken to the hospital early on Saturday morning, according to authorities.

At 7300 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Lauderhill Police and Lauderhill Fire Rescue arrived on the scene.

A witness reported seeing the victim fighting to keep afloat in the canal, rescue crews said.

Crews retrieved him from the water, administered CPR, and took him to the hospital.

One woman claimed to have seen the victim before they fell into the canal while she was working out nearby.

“I just happened to see the gentleman walking on the side and he went down, I thought he was going to use the bathroom, so I didn’t even bother to look until I kept walking and I saw two other gentlemen stopped and looking in the water,” she continued. ‘Oh, my God, don’t tell me that gentleman went off in the ocean,’ I thought. When I ran over here, I noticed another man who appeared to be on the phone and said, “There’s somebody there.” In fact, I grabbed up the phone and dialed 911 as soon as I noticed the water bubbling.

The victim’s condition is still critical.
