The Coral Springs High School cheer squad wins a national award

Coral Springs, Florida – At ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, the Coral Springs High School competitive cheerleading squad placed 13th out of 42 teams in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Competition.

On February 7 and 8, the Colts participated in the minor non-tumbling division.

The squad qualified for the semifinals during Friday’s preliminary play. Coach Amanda Mortimer stated on Saturday that despite their strong performance, they did not place in the top nine and were not eligible to advance to the finals.

Participating in a nationwide competition with teams from throughout the nation was an incredible experience for the girls, according to Mortimer.

Compared to basketball and football cheerleading, competitive cheerleading demands more talent and technique.

Mortimer stated that the participants need to become proficient in gymnastic methods and collaborate well.
