Miami man arrested following violent confrontation inside bathroom at Coral Springs office building

Coral Springs, Florida – A quiet Monday morning at one of Coral Springs’ busiest office buildings quickly turned into a chaotic scene when a man was violently attacked in a bathroom. The incident, which occurred around 10:35 a.m. on May 6, ended with the arrest of a 30-year-old Miami man, who now faces multiple serious charges.

According to the police report, the altercation took place on the seventh floor of the office complex located at 3111 N. University Drive. Witnesses say they were startled by loud screams coming from the men’s bathroom. Moments later, they saw a man identified as Khalfani Campbell exiting the bathroom, standing over another man who lay on the floor in visible distress and fear.

The victim told police that Campbell had strangled him during the assault and physically blocked the bathroom doorway to prevent him from escaping. “He stood in the doorway and wouldn’t let him leave the bathroom,” officers noted in the official report.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found several witnesses restraining Campbell. The report states that Campbell resisted arrest by stiffening his body and pulling away from the officers, making it difficult to place him in custody. Bystanders reportedly shouted at him to stop resisting as the situation escalated.

Inside the bathroom, police discovered clear signs of a violent struggle. A wall had been broken and partially collapsed, and a stall divider was damaged, indicating the level of force involved in the altercation. Despite the damage and witness accounts, the police report did not specify what might have triggered the fight. “It’s unclear what led to the altercation,” the report stated.

Campbell was charged with battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest without violence. After being taken to the Broward County Main Jail, he was released upon posting a $10,000 bond.

This incident has raised concerns among people who work in the building. Many expressed shock at the level of violence that unfolded in what is usually a routine workplace setting. As one employee noted while exiting the building later that day, “You never expect something like that to happen just down the hall.”

At this time, police have not released additional information about the victim, and there is no word yet on whether further charges or legal action will follow. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information about the case to come forward.

The Coral Springs Police Department has not said whether surveillance footage exists that could help clarify what caused the violent confrontation. In the meantime, building management is expected to review safety measures in light of the disturbing event.
