Anderson, a 7th grade teacher with a strong dedication to fostering civic understanding and responsibility, is being recognized for her exceptional work inside and outside the classroom. “Congratulations to Ms. Anderson for being named a 2026 Teacher of the Year Finalist,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. “Ms. Anderson has set an incredible example for other teachers to follow and her commitment to her students is apparent.”

Each year, Florida’s Teacher of the Year selection process begins with individual schools and districts naming their top educators. These nominees are evaluated by a state committee made up of teachers, principals, parents, and members of the business community. Finalists are chosen based on their instructional skill, commitment to professional learning, and contributions to school and community service.
The winner of the 2026 Florida Teacher of the Year award will be announced in July. The selected teacher will serve as the Christa McAuliffe Ambassador for Education for one year. In this role, the winner will travel across Florida to promote the teaching profession and share innovative educational practices with teachers, students, and communities.
