How Ya Dough’n’s journey from a backyard pizza hobby to a growing business now set to open its newest location in Coral Springs reveals the power of creativity and passion

Coral Springs, Florida – What began as a humble pizza-making venture in a Boca Raton backyard during the early days of the pandemic is now a growing business with plans to expand not only across South Florida but also nationwide. The pizza chain, How Ya Dough’n, known for its unique sourdough crust and inventive toppings, is set to open its newest location in Coral Springs as part of the city’s Cornerstone development downtown.

The story of How Ya Dough’n began with Garett and Gabby Goodman, a couple with two young children and another on the way. With time on their hands during the lockdown, they turned to pizza-making as a creative and productive outlet. “I was making a mess with flour everywhere, olive oil on the cabinets,” Garett recalled. “But every day, we were baking and handing out pizzas to neighbors.”

As they experimented with different recipes, they eventually stumbled upon the perfect dough — a sourdough crust that garnered rave reviews from friends and family. It didn’t take long for the couple to realize that their hobby could turn into something bigger. Gabby came up with the catchy name “How Ya Dough’n,” and they started taking orders through Instagram.

The demand quickly skyrocketed, and they went from making just 25 pizzas a week to over 100 in no time. As their popularity grew, Garett made the decision to sell his stake in his tech company and focus entirely on their pizza business. In 2021, their hard work and dedication paid off when they opened their first storefront in Boca Raton. The grand opening was a massive success, with a line stretching around the block on day one.

“It was a crash course in restaurant operations,” Garett said, reflecting on the overwhelming response to their new venture. The success didn’t stop there. How Ya Dough’n expanded to two additional locations in Boca Raton, one in Boynton Beach, and now, they’re ready to make their mark in Coral Springs, a growing city known for its vibrant community and family-friendly atmosphere.

The new Coral Springs location will be part of the Cornerstone development, which is transforming the downtown area into a hub for dining, retail, and entertainment. For Garett and Gabby, the Coral Springs expansion represents a significant milestone in their journey, but it’s just the beginning. The couple has already set their sights on a Las Vegas location, marking the brand’s first step beyond the Sunshine State.

How Ya Dough’n is not your typical pizza joint. Known for their house-made ingredients, seven-day fermented sourdough, and a chef-like approach in the kitchen, the brand has set itself apart from other pizza places in the area. “This is a pizza place, but we treat it like fine dining behind the scenes,” Garett said, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Some of the fan-favorite pies include the “Statachio,” which combines pistachio and stracciatella cheese, and various rotating specials inspired by classic sandwiches. The couple’s passion for food and hospitality shines through in everything they do. Gabby, who oversees branding and design, and Garett, focused on food and operations, have successfully created a business that’s built on both creativity and hard work.

“We’ve created something we’re really proud of,” Garett said. “It’s been amazing to see the community support and watch the brand grow.”

With new locations planned for the future and an ever-expanding menu of inventive pizzas, How Ya Dough’n is quickly becoming a household name in South Florida. The Coral Springs location is expected to be a hit with residents and visitors alike, offering a fresh take on pizza and a community-centered atmosphere that has become the hallmark of the brand.

For the Goodmans, it’s not just about selling pizza. It’s about creating a unique experience for their customers and being a part of the community. As they expand across South Florida and beyond, their story serves as a reminder that sometimes, a little creativity and a lot of passion can turn a simple hobby into a thriving business. And for pizza lovers in Coral Springs, How Ya Dough’n’s arrival is something to look forward to.
