Coral Springs man accused of fleeing traffic stop and resisting arrest outside his home following police pursuit and confrontation
Coral Springs, Florida – A routine speed enforcement operation in Coral Springs turned into a brief pursuit and a tense arrest after police said a driver refused to stop, later resisting officers outside his home, according to the Coral Springs Police Department.
The incident happened on May 12 near the 9900 block of Westview Drive, where an officer was monitoring traffic speeds. Authorities said the officer recorded a 2021 Mazda sedan traveling 54 mph in a posted 35 mph zone, well above the legal limit.
When the officer attempted a traffic stop using lights and siren, the driver did not pull over, police said. Instead, the vehicle continued moving, prompting concern as the situation developed along a busy roadway in the area.
According to the police report, the driver eventually came to a brief stop near the intersection of Westview Drive and Coral Ridge Drive. But even then, officers said the situation did not end there. The driver, later identified as 39-year-old Mateusz Marcin Danczuk of Coral Springs, allegedly refused commands to turn off the engine and instead drove away again.
That decision led officers to continue their search for the vehicle. Detectives later located the Mazda parked at a residence in the 4900 block of NW 120th Avenue. What followed, police said, escalated into a physical confrontation.
Officers approached the home and issued commands for Danczuk to get on the ground. However, according to investigators, he did not comply and instead walked back toward the house. Police said detectives then moved in and tackled him before taking him into custody.
Authorities confirmed that Danczuk was arrested and later charged with several offenses, including fleeing police, resisting an officer without violence, speeding, failure to obey law enforcement, and not wearing a seat belt.
The Coral Springs Police Department also released body camera footage of the stop and arrest on social media, showing parts of the encounter from the initial traffic violation to the final arrest outside the residence. The footage has drawn attention as part of the department’s ongoing effort to provide transparency in enforcement actions.
Officials did not report any injuries during the incident, and no additional suspects were involved. The case is now moving through the legal process as investigators review the events that unfolded from the initial traffic stop to the arrest at the home.
Police say the situation serves as a reminder of how quickly routine traffic enforcement can escalate when drivers fail to comply with lawful orders.
