Coral Springs high SGA president heads to college after leadership role
Coral Springs, Florida – As the school year comes to a close at Coral Springs High School, one student leader is preparing to step away from a role that has defined much of his high school experience, while also looking ahead to a new chapter in college.
Outgoing Student Government Association (SGA) President Jabarri Joseph is finishing his final term at Coral Springs High School with a long list of leadership roles and student activities behind him. His time in office was marked by involvement not only at the school level but also across the wider region through student leadership programs.
Joseph also served as president of District Six of the Florida Association of Student Councils, a regional organization that includes schools across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. In that position, he helped coordinate meetings and connect student leaders from different backgrounds and communities.
Reflecting on that experience, he described it as a defining part of his leadership journey.
“Being president of District Six is something I am proud of. I was able to run the district meeting and network with student leaders from the region.”
Throughout the school year, Joseph played a central role in shaping student life at Coral Springs High. From organizing pep rallies to helping lead homecoming events, he worked to build school spirit and create moments that brought students together. Those events, often seen as simple traditions, were part of a larger effort to make school feel more connected and engaging.
Beyond student government, Joseph also took on the role of founder and president of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project at the school. He led the initiative for two years, focusing on mentorship and leadership development for students. His involvement in the program added another layer to his work, extending his influence beyond event planning and into long-term student support.

In recognition of his efforts, Joseph was also honored with the Shine On! Award from the City of Coral Springs, a distinction that highlighted his commitment to leadership and community involvement.
He credits much of his growth to the support he received from those around him, especially school staff who encouraged him early on.
“I give a lot of credit to Casandra Brice, the advisor for SGA. She believed in me and encouraged me to run for president,” said Joseph.
As he prepares to leave high school behind, Joseph is also thinking about the future of the student organizations he helped lead. He expressed confidence in the next group of leaders stepping into the roles he is vacating, pointing to incoming SGA President Donny Vo and Vice President Ruben Castillo as capable successors who will continue building on the work already done.
For Joseph, the transition is both an ending and a beginning. While he is stepping away from high school leadership, he is also preparing to enter a new academic environment.
His next destination is Florida International University, where he plans to pursue studies in law. The move represents a significant shift, from student government leadership and school-based activities to higher education and a future focused on legal studies.
His journey reflects a steady progression through leadership roles that began locally and expanded regionally, giving him experience in organization, communication, and mentorship. From coordinating district meetings to energizing school events, Joseph’s time in student government has been defined by consistent involvement and responsibility.
As graduation approaches, he leaves behind a school community shaped in part by his leadership, while carrying forward lessons and experiences that he says will guide him in college and beyond.
