Coral Springs Charter girls dominate local cross country meet with top finishes and personal bests as season heats up

Coral Springs, Florida – The Coral Springs Charter girls’ cross-country team continued their impressive run this season, dominating a recent BCAA meet at Pompano Beach Municipal Park on October 7. The team swept the top positions, showcasing both depth and talent as the season heats up ahead of the county championship.
Leading the charge was Lily Richardson, who captured first place with a determined performance over the challenging course. She was followed closely by teammates Sydney McDougall in second, Alyson Thomas in third, and Cecilia Kozlowski in fifth. Hailey Lockwitz and Taylor Hartley rounded out the top eight for Charter, finishing seventh and eighth respectively, cementing the team’s dominance in the meet.
“It was a good course, and we ran well. Now I am looking forward to the county championship,” Richardson said. McDougall also reflected on her performance, adding, “I am pleased to finish second and hope to improve for the upcoming meets,” signaling the team’s continued focus on growth and preparation for bigger challenges.
The boys’ competition also featured strong performances from Coral Springs schools. Matthew Wykpisz of Coral Springs High finished second, while Lucas Werth of Coral Springs Charter placed sixth. David Doreus, also from Coral Springs High, came in eighth, and JahRee Pierre of Taravella finished ninth. Wykpisz said, “I am looking forward to the county championship,” demonstrating optimism and readiness for the postseason.
Coach Khiro Hoilett of Coral Springs High praised his team for their effort and resilience. “We had a lot of personal bests today, and I think our team did well. Wykpisz has recovered from an injury and ran well,” Hoilett said. The coach emphasized that these meets provide valuable experience and momentum as athletes prepare for the county and district competitions.
Overall team results highlighted the strength of Coral Springs Charter and Coral Springs High. While the Charter girls clearly dominated, the Charter boys finished second, and the Coral Springs High boys placed fourth, indicating a competitive season for both schools. Several athletes achieved personal bests, setting the stage for strong performances in upcoming meets.
The meet served as a benchmark for all runners, helping them gauge pacing, endurance, and strategy. With county championships approaching, both the Charter and Coral Springs High teams are focused on maintaining peak performance while building team cohesion.
