Coral Springs pizza restaurant launches two-day fundraiser to benefit the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation

Coral Springs, Florida – Pasquale’s Pizza, located at 5609 Coral Ridge Drive, is opening its doors this week for a heartfelt cause, hosting a two-day fundraiser to benefit the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation. The initiative aims to raise funds for the construction of the official public memorial honoring the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting.

From Wednesday through Thursday, between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., the restaurant will donate 20% of all dine-in and takeout sales to the foundation when customers mention the fundraiser. By combining the community’s love for pizza with a commitment to remembrance, Pasquale’s hopes to make a meaningful contribution to the ongoing campaign to bring the memorial to life.

The memorial itself is designed by acclaimed artist Gordon Huether and is planned to sit on a 150-acre preserve in Heron Bay, symbolically bridging Coral Springs and Parkland. The design features 17 limestone obelisks, each representing one of the victims, arranged around a central fountain accompanied by an engraved poem. Visitors to the site will also find shaded seating areas, royal palm trees, and natural landscaping intended to provide a contemplative space for reflection and remembrance.

“This project is a community effort, funded entirely through donations,” said a representative of the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation. The foundation continues its fundraising campaign to ensure that the memorial can be completed, allowing families, friends, and residents to honor the lives lost in one of the most tragic moments in local history.

The fundraiser at Pasquale’s Pizza is part of a broader effort to involve the community in supporting the memorial. Residents, local businesses, and civic organizations are encouraged to participate not only by dining at the restaurant during the event but also through direct contributions to the foundation. Every donation, whether financial or through participation, helps bring the vision of the memorial closer to reality.

“The memorial is designed to be a place where everyone can reflect, remember, and honor the 17 lives taken too soon,” the foundation representative added. By integrating art, symbolism, and natural surroundings, the memorial seeks to create a lasting tribute that fosters healing and community connection.

For those unable to attend the fundraiser, donations can still be made directly to the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation. The foundation’s efforts rely on the generosity of the public to transform the conceptual plans into a permanent, tangible space for remembrance.

Through initiatives like the Pasquale’s Pizza fundraiser, Coral Springs residents have a unique opportunity to participate in shaping a meaningful legacy. The memorial will stand as a powerful reminder of resilience, remembrance, and the community’s commitment to honoring those lost in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy.
