Coral Springs school officials announce detailed calendars for the next two academic years for parents and students

Coral Springs, Florida – Families in Coral Springs now have a clear picture of the school year schedule not just for next year, but for the following year as well, after Broward County Public Schools announced the calendars for both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years on Thursday.
For the first time, school officials said, the board has approved two academic calendars simultaneously, allowing parents, students, and educators to plan well in advance. “This is a step toward giving our community more time to prepare for upcoming school years,” the school district said in a press release.
The 2026-27 school year will kick off on Aug. 10, 2026. Students will enjoy a week-long Thanksgiving break from Nov. 23 to Nov. 27, followed by a two-week winter break from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1, 2027. Spring break is scheduled for March 22 through March 26, 2027. The academic year will wrap up on May 28, 2027.
Beyond these major breaks, the calendar includes numerous details for both students and teachers. Dates for report card distribution, early release days, and teacher planning days are clearly outlined, as well as holidays and other scheduled days off. To account for unexpected closures due to severe weather, the calendar also includes up to five make-up days.
School officials noted that planning ahead can be particularly helpful for families balancing childcare, work schedules, and extracurricular activities. “Having access to this information early allows parents and students to organize vacations, appointments, and other commitments without last-minute surprises,” a district spokesperson said.
The two-year calendar approval reflects a growing trend among school districts to provide extended visibility for families and staff. By knowing the schedule for multiple years, parents can better coordinate family plans, and teachers can prepare instruction schedules with more certainty.
District leaders emphasized that while the calendars are set, flexibility remains important, particularly in response to unforeseen events like hurricanes or other emergencies that may disrupt school operations. In such cases, the built-in make-up days will help ensure students meet required instructional hours without compromising learning.
Overall, the new calendars provide a structured framework for the academic years ahead, balancing educational needs with time for rest and family. Officials encouraged parents to review the dates carefully and plan accordingly, noting that early preparation can help reduce stress and improve the overall school experience for students.
“This is an opportunity for everyone in our school community to stay informed and organized,” the district added, reinforcing its commitment to supporting families, students, and educators alike.
With the calendars now publicly available, Coral Springs families can confidently plan vacations, family events, and other activities, while schools maintain a clear roadmap for teaching and learning throughout the next two academic years.
