Coral Springs Police and Fire Rescue units were called to a home on the 8300 block of Northwest 35th Court after reports of a drowning in a swimming pool. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Josemanuel Pena unresponsive in the water.

The sudden loss has left the community shaken, highlighting the dangers that can arise around swimming pools even in familiar, residential settings. Officials have not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the drowning, including whether Pena was alone in the pool or if safety measures, such as a pool fence, were in place.

Local authorities are reminding residents about the importance of pool safety and vigilance around water. “This is a heartbreaking situation, and it serves as a reminder that water safety is critical,” said a Coral Springs Police spokesperson. “Supervision, proper barriers, and knowing basic lifesaving techniques can prevent tragedies like this.”

Coral Springs Fire Rescue personnel emphasized that quick action by bystanders can make a difference in drowning situations, but professional medical intervention is often necessary to save lives. Despite the valiant efforts of those on site, this incident demonstrates how quickly a situation can turn fatal.

Residents with swimming pools are encouraged to review safety precautions, ensure children and guests are properly supervised, and consider taking CPR courses to be prepared for emergencies. This tragic event serves as a sobering reminder that water safety should never be taken lightly, even in private, familiar environments.
