Woman assisted the mother of a 5-year-old boy, who said her son was possessed by a deмon, to put the child’s body in a suitcase after she found her sitting on top of her son and then drove her to dump the body like garbage in a heavily wooded area in another state; sentenced
Court records show that a 41-year-old woman who was accused of assisting a 38-year-old mother to conceal her son’s death by helping her put the 5-year-old’s lifeless body in a suitcase and driving her to another state to get rid of the body recently pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit murder after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors and was sentenced to 25 years in prison with an additional 5 years of probation. While the 41-year-old woman, identified as Dawn, faced the legal consequences for her role in the death of the 5-year-old boy, the boy’s mother, identified as Dejaune, is still being sought after, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
The body of the 5-year-old boy was found after a mushroom hunter reported to authorities discovering a distinctive suitcase in a heavily wooded area in April 2022. When police arrived at the scene, they opened the suitcase and discovered an approximately 5-year-old male child stuffed inside. The boy was later identified as Cairo. At the beginning of the investigation, authorities came to a dead end since neither the boy matched the description of any child previously reported missing nor witnesses, acquaintances, or family members came forward in connection with the dead boy.
But shortly after, investigators were able to place Dawn and Dejaune in the area where the boy’s body was found after their fingerprints were found on the suitcase and their cellphone data was traced to the area where the boy’s body was discovered, and warrants had been issued for their arrests on charges of neglect of a dependent, resulting in death, and obstruction of justice.
Police quickly located Dawn and placed her under arrest. She told investigators during the interview that by the time she walked to Dejaune’s bedroom, the 5-year-old Cairo was already dead and was lying facedown on the mattress while his mother was sitting on top of him. Dawn then assisted Dejaune to stuff the body in the suitcase and drove her off to another state to dump the “luggage” in the wooded area.
According to court documents, Dejaune posted disturbing messages on social media days before committing the murder, including a tweet stating she had survived death attacks from her 5-year-old son throughout his life and claimed he was 100 years old. She also referred to the need for an eхorcism to remove a powerful deмonic force from her son, adding that just because he appeared as a child did not necessarily mean he was actually a child. Authorities are still looking for Dejaune, who remains on the loose, and anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call 911.
