Coral Springs City Commission approves construction of 100-foot telecommunications tower in Maplewood Area to improve cell service

Coral Springs, Florida – In a move aimed at improving cellular network performance in the city, the Coral Springs City Commission has approved the construction of a 100-foot telecommunications tower in the Maplewood neighborhood. The approval, which came during a City Commission meeting this week, paves the way for T-Mobile to address the area’s ongoing connectivity issues.
The telecommunications tower, designed to look like a pine tree to blend into its surroundings, will be constructed on property owned by the Coral Springs Improvement District. The site is located at 10300 NW 11th Manor, just off Ramblewood Drive. In addition to the tower, T-Mobile plans to build a 2,500-square-foot facility to house the necessary equipment.
The approval was unanimous, with all commissioners agreeing that the project would bring significant improvements to cellular service in the area. The tower will be situated on the southeast side of the 26-acre site, which is also home to a water utility plant operated by the district.
As part of the planning process, the tower’s location has been carefully considered. The structure will be positioned approximately 180 feet from the nearest apartments to the south and about 650 feet from the single-family homes in Maplewood. To further minimize any potential impact on the surrounding community, the tower will be screened by a concrete-block wall and landscaped areas.
T-Mobile representatives addressed the city’s commission, explaining the necessity of the new tower. The company indicated that existing infrastructure in the area is inadequate to meet the growing demands for mobile service. They pointed to several persistent issues, including dropped calls, slow data speeds, and failed connection attempts. The proposed site aims to fill the coverage gap that stretches from NW 16th Street in the north to Riverside Drive in the south, Coral Springs Drive in the west, and N. University Drive in the east.
“We’ve identified several areas where service demands cannot be met with the current facilities,” a T-Mobile representative said. “This new tower will help improve connectivity and provide reliable service to our customers in Coral Springs.”
The project is expected to enhance the overall cellular experience for residents and businesses in the area, resolving ongoing performance issues and expanding coverage. The next steps include finalizing construction plans, after which T-Mobile will begin building the tower and the equipment facility in the coming months.
With the addition of the 100-foot telecommunications tower, Coral Springs is taking a significant step toward improving its network infrastructure and addressing the connectivity needs of its residents.
