Deputy placed on administrative leave after opening fire and fatally wounding an armed man in Clermont

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a Lake County officer opened fire and fatally wounded an armed suspect on Sunday evening in Clermont.

The sheriff’s office said that deputies were sent to the home at 10630 Reagans Run Drive in Clermont because they received information about a “suicidal adult man” in possession of a weapon.

The deputies said that they arrived just a little after 5 o’clock in the evening. You came into contact with a guy who was 49 years old and armed.

According to the statements made by the sheriff’s office, the individual was fatally shot by a cop at some point during the altercation.

The deputy has been put on administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducts an investigation.
