RSW Airport closed due to flat tire on plane

FORT MYERS, Fla. — As a result of the blow tire that occurred on United flight 2274, the RSW Airport has been closed until further notice. We are now attempting to determine why the incident that occurred seven hours ago has caused enough disruption to operations at the airport to warrant closing it entirely.

The Lee County Port Authority has reported that United aircraft 2274 from Newark had a tire blowout while landing at RSW.

Buses were used to transport passengers to the terminal, and there were no reports of any injuries.

The spokesman says the runway will be available for use again after the jet has been relocated to a taxiway and safety inspections have been completed.

There were 154 passengers and 6 staff members on board, and everyone is safe and unharmed.

There has been no information provided on the number of flights that have been or will be delayed.
