Man, who left a woman in critical condition with burns covering nearly half of her body after he poured gasoline and lit her on fire as she left work, leaving her with injuries that would be hard to recover from; was sentenced!

Court records show that a 67-year-old man, identified as William, will probably spend the rest of his life behind bars for the brutal attack he committed against a female acquaintance. According to reports, the man, who is an ex-convict, learned his fate during a sentencing trial held earlier this week and was sentenced on charges that included assault with intent to murder.

The incident occurred four years ago, on November 9. William approached his female acquaintance, identified as Dorothy, as she was leaving work and poured gasoline on her before setting the woman on fire, resulting in her sustaining burns to nearly half of her body. This horrific act took place near the restaurant where Dorothy worked, where passersby witnessed the woman lying on the ground, emitting smoke.

First responders responded to the scene after citizens flagged down a police officer. Authorities said Dorothy, who had just finished her shift that night, was able to speak briefly and identify the person responsible for the attack before being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Reflecting on the attack, the victim expressed her distress and disbelief at the cruelty inflicted upon her, stating how upsetting it was that someone could commit such an act against another human being.

William was arrested a few days following the attack and faced charges of assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault. His criminal history, dating back to the 1970s, included a recent release from prison in 2017 and discharge from parole in 2018. During his sentencing, the judge described William as a “cold-blooded human being” before handing down a prison term of 40 to 80 years.
